Exclamation Iray for 3ds Max 2.0 is released

Iray for 3ds Max version 2.0 is now available for download. This release upgrades the underlying Iray engine to the 2018.1.2 version and has the following changes:

    • Added new Iray+ Frame Buffer
    • Extended Lighting Analysis options and enabled them for Production renders
    • Added Anti-Aliasing filter controls
    • Can now set the viewport wireframe colour of Iray+ lights
    • Viewport now shows the effect of Iray+ lights' colour temperature (select 'High Quality' to see this)
    • Added Firefly and Bloom filter to the network render information
    • Improved Active Shade update performance when editing light parameters when using IES profiles
    • Cloning an Iray+ light as a "Copy" now works correctly when using IES profiles
    • Renders now show correct illuminance values when the tonemapper is disabled
    • Fixed bug with the calculation of "Offset" values in 3ds Max texture maps when loading an Iray+ or MDL material
    • Fixed bug where final render update could be lost, particularly when rendering animations
    • Fixed potential bugs when converting Forest Pack materials
    • Fixed bug where textures could be lost when using the Resource Collector
    • Fixed bug where LPE layers could become unselected after editing

For those who trialled the beta version, the following have been fixed since the last beta release:

    • Fixed a crash with the frame buffer and remote rendering
    • Fixed a bug where GPU resources could still be used as long as the frame buffer window was displayed, even after renders had completed
    • Fixed a crash when saving images from the frame buffer when using the "Show Previous" button

    !!! Please Note !!!

We have discovered a crash in this version when rendering animations or motion blur multi-pass effects when using the standard 3ds Max frame buffer. We're working on a fix for this and will release an updated installer as soon as possible.

In the meantime you can safely render either of these using the new Iray+ Frame Buffer. The motion blur multi-pass effect will not correctly display in this while the render is progressing, but the final image output will show the effect.
