    Default Type-8

Hi Guys - my first post here

A re-imagining of the boss "Mobile Type 8" from my favorite game Final Fantasy VIII.

Rather than just making a high poly version of the original design I wanted to produce something that reflected my own impression of the character.

When you encounter him in Lunatic Pandora you aren't given any backstory. I always imagined this wasn't really the kind of weapon that would be deployed on a battlefield. It looked more ceremonial and while it was equipped with powerful weapons it probably would almost never use them as it was more a symbol of the power of the people who had constructed it.

I kept this idea in mind when working on this redesign and avoided adding elements that would contradict this concept such as caution decals.

I also took inspiration from the "Black Boa" from Spirits Within. In particular its snub sensor nose and wing like engines.

    Great Rendering, Andrew
I took the freedom and moved your post from the original location to the Maya Gallery.
This is a very clean, and perfect object design rendering.
    Great materials.

Some more info about your hardware, render time, materials used?
